About Colette

Perhaps it’s best to say that from an early age I considered myself a citizen of the world and did not like boxes.  I was brought up in the UK, had mixed parentage that is English and French and in some ways did not feel I belonged to either country.  I’ve been lucky enough to travel the world and live for some time in both India and different parts of Canada.  My respect for different cultures, different ways of thinking and each person’s uniqueness feeds into my work.

Just before having my son, who is now 16 years old, I had studied a 3 year bio-energetic course in the UK and shortly after moved to New Delhi in India.  Whilst there I studied Clinical Hypnotherapy and requalified once settled in Vancouver.  I am a member of the IMDHA (International Medical and Dental Hypnotherapy Association) and have separate certifications in Pain Management, Addiction, Virtual Gastric Band and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.  I’ve also studied Reiki to Level II and studied NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) at the University of Santa Cruz in California.

More recently, whilst living in Edmonton, Alberta, I have recently graduated as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach.

After moving from India, I didn’t see the beauty of Canada initially.  Both my son and I missed India immensely.  Added to which, my son was eventually diagnosed with language delay, after having been considered as potentially being on the autism spectrum.    We learnt that he was a top-down thinker (conceptual, with details provided later), rather than bottom-up (using building blocks and then coming to an understanding of the whole).  My son had been exposed to 3 different dialects in India, played with an Italian friend and listened to English at home.  He hadn’t waited for the normal building blocks, but had filled in the gaps with his own language.  We were told that he wanted to do things too quickly and quite honestly, that hasn’t changed much!

Without going into too much more detail, there are various life experiences that I can tap into, experiencing bullying and “seeing things” at a young age,  losing a sister too early to Cancer, near death with septicemia after having given birth to my son and much more.

I aim to bring a level of compassion and understanding to any of the experiences you are having trouble with and to find solutions that are sustainable and long-lasting.
